Voice of Workforce Development

WIN helps to build consensus on workforce policy and appropriations issues through its advocacy work at the state and federal levels, and encourages leadership, innovation, continuous improvement, quality, and professionalism in the workforce development field.

These activities have never been more critical, given the serious workforce challenges Maryland faces:

  • Overcoming worker shortages across most industry sectors;

  • Preparing our existing and emerging workforce for the primary and tertiary employment opportunities that will come to the state as a result of base realignment;

  • Creating a continuous pipeline of workers to fill the hundreds of thousands of job vacancies that will occur as our “baby boomer” generation retires; and

  • Resolving ongoing workforce investment funding challenges

Successfully addressing these challenges is vital to ensuring the stability of Maryland’s workforce and the future of our economy, and creates a win for Maryland.
